BECKHAM NAMED GEORGIA EGG PRESIDENT The Georgia Egg Association held its 50th annual meeting June 1 – 3 at the King and Prince Beach and Golf Resort on St. Simons Island, GA, with president Scott Horton presiding. New officers were elected for the 2011-2012 year and Danny Beckham of Cal-Maine Foods, Shady Dale, GA will serve as the group’s president. Brent Booker, Country Charm Eggs, Gillsville, GA was elected to serve as first vice-president, Dennis Hughes, United Egg Marketers, Blackshear, GA was elected second vice-president; and Gijs Schimmel, Centurion Poultry, Lexington, GA, will serve as the group’s Secretary-Treasurer. One year directors, elected during the 3 day gathering, include: Dyke Addis, Hy-Line International; Nick Evans, FACCO USA; Mike Cullum, Rose Acre Farms; Mark Ankerich, Rose Acre Farms; and Fred Tingle, DOLCO Packaging. Two year directors are: David Aldridge, Triple A Farms; Tim Floyd, Lathem Farms; Larry Thomason, Thomason Egg Farm; David Lathem, Lathem Farms; and Scott Horton, Country Charm Eggs. Three year directors elected are: KY Hendrix, Rose Acre Farms; Jim Hull, American Egg Products; Shannon Burasco, CWT International; Tom Oliver, Chestnut Mountain Egg Farm; and Jack Watford, J-Wat Enterprises. Advisors are Dr. Bruce Webster and Dr. Mike Lacy of the University of Georgia’s Poultry Science Department. The group voted to meet again at the King and Prince on Wednesday, June 20 through Friday, June 22, 2012. |
